I feel like thats not an excuse, Ghortash honestly feels like he was meant to be an artificer (before they decided not to implement the class) with all the gadgets he has and his access to an army of steam punk mech golems.
Not to mention that you can find electric powered cinstructs in the arcane tower of Mystra's cleric.
Now go on and tell me that that Artificiers have no place in FR.
It is a missed opportunity by Larians if you ask me.
You do not need to invent anything. Artificiers exist in FR. And in many other settings. They are not exclusive to Ebberon campaign.
Your typical Artificier will be something like a gondian from Lantan
Those tasha cauldron rule changes have been added to the new version of the PHB coming out
Creating an entire working class with a unique gimmick is just a tiny bit harder then messing with the bean counting that goes on when assigning player stats.
Baldurs gate is patrolled by giant clockwork robots, how would it feel out of place?
Actually the ability score rules are being reworked into the One D&D playtest for the new PHB, THAT is where Larian got it from (in fact a lot of people think that WotC made Larian make that change for BG3 to get people used to the new rules coming to the new PHB). Larian is not taking any rules from Tasha's.
