Apparently past the halfway point of the game (middle of act 2 onwards), even the main series quests and ambient npc dialogue include graphic descriptions of ♥♥♥ acts. Unavoidable as its right in the middle of main quests and just ambient dialogue. the denizens of baldurs gate go into detail about their favorite ♥♥♥ positions and the like, just as you walk by or talk to them. npcs offer you "pegging" services. a main character is a drag queen who likes talking about ♥♥♥ too. apparently there is a scene where a major figure of authority (all the authority figures in the game are "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" women in abusive mixed-race "relationships") goes on a long rant about how male/female relationships are an "unnatural" aberration.

The final quest of act 2 being the most egregious because if you chose to save the life of a certain female character, she will go on a 10 minute, unskippable rant about the granular detail of the ♥♥♥ acts she wants to perform on another woman back at camp. That's IF you say I don't have time to talk, if you do say you have time to talk she will go on another rant in even more detail.

When she gets back to camp, you can then listen to said woman and the other woman go on a final rant where they trade stories about the graphic ♥♥♥ acts they plan to perform on each other.

This is assuming you are playing a Good character.

if you are playing an evil character you send the first woman to be sacrificed by a sorcerer in a satanic ritual, and the second woman back at camp apparently graphically commits suicide.

so much for the "this game has no agenda" crowd.

So here's the definitive answer now that the game is out.

No working saves for a large portion of people.

mass directx/vulkan crashes.

no character customization, but character creator defaults to female, then turns you into a "male" with breasts and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ if you press "body type" change, and then auto-changes your selected "gender identity" to female at different points in the story.

No game design, it's just hyper symplified 5e dnd with half missing.

story is a pretense to get you from one ♥♥♥ scene to the next.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ was apparently a big design goal.

oh and you get to torture an apparent crucified man somewhere in the game, and most of the "torture" options are ♥♥♥♥♥♥. And before you call out spoilers, this was actually shown in pre-release videos as a selling point; multiple articles on multiple gaming sites had video of it too.

So as for the question: is this an erogame first and game second? No. This is a grotesque social experiment first and "video game" wasn't even in the design document.

Every video or warning screen about this game warns about "strong ♥♥♥♥♥♥ content" and profanity and little else; it's honestly the first thing you see when you look this game up. That's a big warning sign considering this is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wizards of the coast approved project on top of the "climate" of the day.

It's clear this game providing graphic ♥♥♥♥♥♥ "representation" (lol) is the first and foremost goal of both the devs and community, and all else is a distant (FAR distant) second; including the "video game" part of this video game. I'm shocked though considering larian appeared to be far less liberal than their fantasy contemporaries in the past, but "money talks" I suppose.

I know the fantasy genre first hit it's stride as an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "subculture" when a couple of degenerate writers in the 1950's and 1960's used fantasy or sci-fi settings as a pretense for their grotesque ♥♥♥ novels (seriously, read some of the older ones, not to mention A LOT of those original writers were even arrested on ♥♥♥ abuse or child ♥♥♥♥ charges in the 1970's and 1980's), so TECHNICALLY this game being this way is consistent with the trashy novels dnd and the like is based on.

It's just I thought we were past this as a genre 40 years ago.

Why even call it baldur's gate other than to sell it? Would you even say this is baldur's gate? It's like they force you to download a copy riddled with 15+ skyrim ♥♥♥♥ mods, with all the jank of a heavily modded game included.

Whats kinda funny is I play "Agony and Succubus" vid games and the message boards are devoid of any of theses problems .
There's ♥♥♥ and gore in both of those that make this game look like a G rated picnic .
I really think the problem is bias from both sides spurred on by major media and as recently exposed corporate credit rating system that is tied to Hedge funds like BlackRock and Vanguard which for whatever reason seem to like pushing "Equity and Ocular Diversity" as selling points.
Along with using the term"Trans" as a opportunity to create a new market to sell products mostly by forcing every company under the sun comply with the Alphabet agenda wither they want to or not by holding corporate credit ratings hostage in the attempt to create new markets to sell products that never existed before .
Basically everyone knows there's no such thing as trans except as a social construct and in retail marketing .
But if it will sell a product and there's a market for it you will see politicians and companies pushing it, until there's no money in it , or more than 47% of the market oppose it .
Most say the tipping about is 47% once you get to 47% of the market share opposing something then it's dead , but BlackRock and Vanguard are pretty big shareholders and it seems like they really want the Alphabet agenda retail market to happen so there's gonna be a lot more pushing for it happen then probably would normally happen in a free market society .
