Should i go a charisma class?
I really don't wanna miss content by not succeeding speech checks so i feel like i am bound to go a charisma class. What i actually want to go is monk. Is it playable to build charisma on monk?

Charisma is wasted on a monk. Usually charisma lead would be your bard, warlock or sorceror. Monk requires dex,con,....and uh..wis?

Multiclass warlock monk

Go Monk and don't worry about it. Optimal would be 12 str 16 dex 14 con 8 int 16 wis 8 cha. You don't have to be optimal, though. If you really wanna have some social skills, you can bring wis down to 14 and put cha at 12.

If you really want to play monk, charisma should be low. Just remember that it's less about missing content than getting different content if you "fail" in dialogs. Most important thing is to play a class you like (even if it that is Monk...) :D

failing conversation checks doesnt lock you out of the game, its a different story path for some cases - Larian was clear, you don't need skill checks all the time, failing skill checks can lead to conversations and scenarios you otherwise wouldn't have had.

Oh, i guess i was a bit over concerned about it. I guess i will go monk then :D
In a lot of RPG video games the answer would be yes.
But I feel like this one's done a good job of catering to all types of character builds, even low charisma ones. You'll probably see things that a high charisma player wouldn't (and likewise they things that you as a low charisma player wouldn't).

You can go 14+2 dex, 15+1 wisdom, 12 con, then you have the room for 14 cha. Str and int will be 8 which is fine. Just take a background with persuasion and you will have an okayish persuasion which you can beef with guidance, just keep shadowfart in the party. There is also an amulet of guidance i think somewhere in the game.

Big downside is 8 str, which affects your shove, carry weight and jump distance. Also missing out on 14 con. The optimal monk would be 14+2 dex 15+1 wis 14 con 12 str 8 int cha

Can also use one of your companions if they have a higher charisma, other options are mods to adjust your stats when they come out or I would bet their will be charisma items you can find latter on.

You don't have to use your main character to have all the conversations. In my playthroughs I typically have a looter or a lockpicker selected by default (usually not the main char), and when I think to do it I swap to a talking specialist when its time for that.

Plus, for some conversations, it could be that using an origin character will get you a special variation that Tav can't get.

Also, it's pretty fun to fail.

Also, remember to use your inspiration points. They can help you to reroll failed skill checks if there is one you really feel like is important for you to succeed on. Inspiration points max out with 4, so use them when you have them, because you will get more.
Just take a charisma companion with you. You can use your companion skill checks.

I find it super weird to use a companion for dialog checks. Like, hey Wyll handle the goblins and be super nice and good to them, because you have no choice.

I wish it was possible to make conversation rolls with your strongest character like in Solasta.

Its not too weird. I had a bard at one time, and when I hit the vendors, I would transfer all the loot over to sell. I don't know how important gold becomes, but the difference between high cha and low cha is pretty big. Around a difference of 30% in price maybe? That was with 18 cha, maybe higher once you hit the 20s.
