What usually motivates me to do it is stuff like wanting to see the alternate resolutions to quests, try different classes/subclasses and so on.
1) Don't immediately start a 2nd playthrough. Uninstall the game and walk away from it for 6-12 months minimum. This beefs up your next playthrough, as the game will be less buggy and likely have more content, tweaks, and mods to call on the longer you wait to replay.
2) Play a very different 2nd playthrough. If you were good in the first playthrough, play evil next time. Mix up who you adventure with most. Make different decisions with your companions. If the plot forks where you must choose A or B, make a different choice next time.
3) Play a completely different class next time, one no one in your party used last playthrough.
4) There's a playthrough and there's a *leave no stone unturned* playthrough that takes 4x as long. You don't need to do open every single container in the game if you've already done that in the first playthrough.
5) Make the difficulty one level higher.
6) Go nuts with mods. Don't cheat, just shake up what playing the game is like. By the time of the 2nd playthrough the best rated mods will be pretty clear to choose from.
Just common sense stuff, really. #1 above is the biggest rule. Back to back with a game of this size you will surely burn out and not finish the 2nd playthrough.

If you find yourself playing a stealth magic archer again, walk away.
and then come back with a fresh mind +super hyped to try different stuff
but i also come from a pen and paper background
creating new chars for new adventues is second nature for me
i also got it somewhat mapped out XD
first run : custom char and a solid mix between good and somewhat evil stuff but mostly good
guess like most people play the first time minus tadpole powers
second run : ill purge everyone and drink the blood of puppies
dark urge + the most stupid options the game presents me + all parasite powers
thats 2 super different experiences that i want to see
