Why is a single player game always online ?
I like being able to pause games but for some reason this game is like an MMO where the game just continues anyway.

It's not.

That's like saying Soulsborne games are always online because the game doesn't stop while you're in menus, even in offline mode.

It's not always online. It's a DRM-free product, so it can't be. Just because it might not have the ability to pause at least in EA, that doesn't mean it's always online.

It's not. You can play this game completely offline..

Im not sure where you got the information of it being always online, it was confirmed that the game is playable in offline mode, you will just naturally lose your ability to play non-splitscreen multiplayer that way

I havent seen if its changed in full release but closest thing to a pause is toggling turn based mode which will make the game stop until you either leave it or end a turn

what re you talking about, you can pause at any moment you also can play offline

the only thing you can't do offline is play Co-Op Online, but if you have a buddy in your home you can still paly couch co-op offline

i likeraly spend 1 week waiting for my internet to get install only playing BG3 EA, its 100% offline

Because you playing games with online requirement, dude.

It's not always online, but the lack of total pause is annoying, on that i will agree.

You are either "in combat" (paused and you can go to the toilet) or "not in combat" and in 97.4% of all times than you can stand there for hours and nothing dramatically will happen. And for this 2,6% there is a quicksave option. It's one button like a ... "pause button".
There were some very rare occasions in Divinity Original Sins 2 were you can get caught in a fight or something happens when you leave your keyboard.

But maybe a pause button (like "pause" on the keyboard) wouldn't hurt...

Which single player game? Because it's not this one. Ignore the troll bait people.

What? The game is literally entirely DRM free, you can launch it on a completely offline machine via the exe. Thats the opposite of always online.

does a turn based game even need a pause? it is always paused unless you push a button
