you will be losing out on a big part of the game through not having a party with you
None that we know of so far. Solo in BG3 is simply playing at 1/4 power. The only real upside is consolidation of money and items on one character.
We don’t know for sure if they fixed it or not. We know they made some changes.
There is no lonewolf fear on dnd 5e.
Still there are many ways to exploit the systems in this game.
So fighting fairly? I doubt you can solo.
Gaming the systems? For sure you can solo.
But you must know the game first, so I would not recomend it on 1st playthrough.
I think specific builds would need to be played, I don't see a Wizard or any magic class doing this, you're always outnumbered even with a party of 4, you'll be out of spells slots every two encounters.
There is a fight in act 1 underdark/grimforge that would be extremely difficult to solo even on the easiest difficulty. Not because of the boss, but because of how you kill him.
Honestly dnd is designed as a group game. You will eventually get overwhelmed by enemies.
