First Class in BG3 as a beginner
Ive never tried this kind of game genre before. Which class do you think I should try as my first?
Ive tried the Barbarian but according to Larian Studios the Beserker subclass is not good as a first playtrough.

Beserker is pretty darn good for playing, I dunno what Larian is on about. The Barbarian specific dialogue options tend to be dramatic or comedic, and effective.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Even for beginner I would almost say anything. It is more important to play what you feel you wish to play than to shoehorn into something that may or may not be easier. Nobody is equal.

just play what you feel like

Most Martial classes, really. Champion - a fighter sublacss which will release with the Full game - is also a class that is fairly simple to play. Battlemaster not. That can get trick. And of course Barbarian, as others said. I also think Rogue is not that difficult.

Personally id recommend paladin. It's a class that can dps, heal, and be the party face.

It's a good all rounder that will allow you to take most companions and learn the game.

New to this kind of game + first playthrough? Just keep it simple. Pick a stupidly simple fighter and learn the game.

And you don't have to sink 200 hours into one class waiting for the next plathrough. If you get bored with your class, just respec and try that class out. Easy.

True, plus it sounds like oath breaking is a big deal in BG3, which would make a playthrough really interesting too

I disagree with Larian. I think Barbarian is one of the best classes for new people to get into. They basically have rage and that's it. Plus they are just plain fun. Another good starter class, IMO, is fighter.

as long as you dont play rogue i think you be fine playing whatever. reason i say this is because often the rogue class or subclasses is kidna focused on doing stealth and i feel as a new player maybe wait until you understand the game more

tbh play whatever sounds coolest for you and then synergize accordingly with other party members

"you" are basically 4 persons when it comes to fights and stuff

also there is respec in the game

just chill , grab your favorite brew and enjoy the game

Something tells me this game was made with heavily RP in mind.

The quote from Larian is:

"Berserker is a great class to try and solo the game with. I've seen playtesters attempt that, it's incredible to watch. But I don't recommend doing this on your first playthrough *laugh*."

His recommendation was playing the game with a full party instead of trying a solo the game with a single Berserker.

As others said, any class is fine, no matter if beginner. D&D 5E is a simple game system and does not require studying or much rule knowledge.

I recommend paladin, rogue, warlock or bard, all of which are fun to play and have useful abilities. Paladin is the typical party face and a solid fighter with some healing. Warlock is a great option if you want to be a caster/ranged damage type (I loved the class in Solasta, the other 5E game). Rogue is an allrounder, and probably the worst of the four, but he has stealth, backstab, poison, and skills. Bard is a party enhancer, a group face, and he has his songs beside spells.
