WASD controls in exploration mode?
Is there any hope that in 1.0 we'll get an over the shoulder camera with WASD controls? something like Dragon Age Inquisition, because it's a shame if they wouldn't, the game has some beautiful sceneries.

But when it comes to navigating a lot is based around you being able to see and target from the top. On top of that you wouldn't be able to see certain things you could do from that view either. That's what i am talking about.
Don't bother. People picked up the game on a whim over the hype, and now will complain about everything. Be ready because it will get worse after full release.
complain? I just Gave a feedback that many people think, and constructive criticism is useful for devs as well.

No. That's not what they're saying. They're saying you're going to have to zoom out while exploring. As it is needed.

And how's that any different from how controllers are going to work? Like I said in my first comment, parity is not too much to ask.

Because consoles are optimized using a different control scheme?? The hell? Lol. The game is optimized for consoles with controller use in mind. That's why it's different, and makes it less awkward. WASD movement for this type of game would. Not. Work. Like I said. It's been tried before and failed as a mod.

All i'm saying is that the game has not been designed with an always over the shoulder camera in mind. So you will run into issues when you navigate around like that. But of course they could try and make an MMO like movement scheme with WASD and mouse but you would still have to zoom out regularly and switch to the main control style to get around. And it still might not feel as good as you'd like.

It failed as a mod for DOS2 because Divinity camera is clearly not close enough to being over the shoulder, holding the left mouse in BG3 however gives the game an immersive camera close to the character, and it's nearly perfect, so why not add an option to use arrow keys or WASD?

Anything to back up such a claim?

Here's mine proving that it would work just fine: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1115845803
EDIT: Also notice how in the comments of that mod, there are only two types of people; those thanking the modder for their work, and those wanting the same mod for DOS2.

You should also take a look at Dragon Age Origins and Neverwinter Nights.

I understand that, but they clearly did it for console players, why is Larian treating PC gamers as a niche playerbase?

Because it wouldn't work lol. Wasd pans the map. Someone tried modding wasd into Divinity Original Sin 2 and it was God awful. Wasd movement simply does not work for crpgs. Your best bet is to use a controller
Again, what I mean is something like what they show in the PS5 trailer, Larian could easily do it, since they did it for PS? lmao, and again, if you hold the left mouse you can get a similar result so why not add it since we can already do it? and in DOS2 you can't zoom so close like in BG3.

The PC version will have full controller support like PS5. This has been confirmed. It's actually the same as PS5.

You still will have a top-down perspective, though, and even the console version is like that. This is not a third person RPG. Inquisition was garbage, if you want garbage games go elsewhere.

Its not a third person game its isometric and the idea of it suddenly shifting to generic third person feels jarring

Bringing in the camera that close for this game does not make a difference, man lol. You're going to have to zoom it out a majority of the game. Since you already bought the game, you're going to have to use a controller, get use to the controls, or make a mod yourself that modifies the controls.

I guess I want a game like the one showed in the console trailer? is that much to ask?

Just hookup your controller and you get that exact experience

EDIT:
Your recipe does not work because
"If you ONLY want WASD movement, that's everything you need. I'll tell you what to add."
That is, switching to the 1st person view of a particular character does not occur.
If you were attentive to the requests of other people, then you would not even offer it.

So get the console version or use a controller. 🗿💀

That's the game you're getting. You're just mistaken about what you saw and are making assumptions then refusing to acknowledge your ignorance when we point it out.

There is no difference between the PS5 and PC version. If you use a controller on PC in 2 days, it'll be EXACTLY the same as what you saw in the trailers.

What you're ASSUMING, is that the game always plays like that, which is incorrect. There specific instances like events and conversations where the camera zooms in and takes a more cinematic angle, this is already true on PC. However, you can't control the camera then or play like that out of those moments, it's all preset.

Using a controller will get you the UI and movement like PS5, which is a relevant ask, and should get you 99% of the way to what you probably want with WASD.

There is no over the camera mode, not even for PS5. It's top-down even for them. You can zoom close if you want, just like other top-down CRPGs, but you can't swivel the camera around so you will blind yourself to everything around you like if you were using a magnifying glass.
