That's literally how console versions and playing with a controller is going to work for this game though...
It's not too much to ask to have parity for keyboard.
You will still end up shifting away from that perspective more than often to be able to navigate properly.
I'm good at controlling cameras...
Also, why are you insisting that this game is going to be unplayable on consoles? Because that's what I'm getting out of these arguments against direct controlled movement.
Why are you putting words into my mouth xD
I am saying you won't be in that 3rd person perspective for general exploration all the time, because you have to use the top down view for a lot of things.
You are literally saying that direct controlled movement doesn't work for these types of games. Well guess what, console versions (and PC with controller) uses directly controlled movement instead of point and click.
So yes, you did say that, and I'm not putting any words in your mouth.
Its not direct movement control i'm talking about, its the 3rd person camera perspective.
This whole thread is about direct controlled movement. OP is not asking for anything that's not already in the console versions.
Personally, the 3rd gameplay only disgusts me and the only reason I put up with it is that the source code of the engine is proprietary, which is why it cannot have a good alternative.
And how's that any different from how controllers are going to work? Like I said in my first comment, parity is not too much to ask.
