Can I play with just 1 character?
Hello,

I'm just here to ask, If you MUST have a party in this game.
Just like in real life, I don't like being responsible for other people (or lizardmen, or elves, or dragonkind) because I'm barely responsible for myself. So in videogames I mostly choose to walk the road alone trying to optimize my build so hard that in the end I don't need anyone.

So I guess my question is, is it possible to be an asocial powerhouse in this game?

Most likely yes,at least if we are not talking tactician. Tactician difficulty might be different (though I do think it still might be possible.
Larian played a solo Shadowheart on stream, so it is probably a playstyle they anticipated.

I think their was a post about someone being able to go act 1 as a rogue and completed it only with that character because they commented sneaking is OP as if undetected enemies don't react to you at all.

Wondering this as well.

YEP! It's probably my biggest deciding point. All jokes aside, I just don't like having 4 skill trees and 4 members who need equipment while I'm mostly confused by just 1 :D

Yes it is definitely possible, one of the Dev's showed us their solo run in the latest panel from hell.

May make it harder but that's half the fun.

It's hard but you can in the early access.

watch a guy named Sin-tee on ytube... he has some pretty nice soloing clips there, but I have to warn you, he knows the game better than the devs do (at least seems like it)

Sounds awesome, thanks for your time!

Yeah, they even showed solo play in Act II at the last panel from hell. Guy was running just Shadowheart. The game gives you ways to gain more power if you are willing to forgo/anger/kill your friends and allies.

in Divinity there was a perk that buffs your characters if its half the size, pretty sure there is also a perk for a lone wolf.
Should be implemented in here too

My second playthrough will be the dark urge sorcerer on a quest for as much power as possible. Fully expecting that to be a lonely experience. :steamhappy:

Lone wolf perk would be awesome LOL

There most likely won't be a perk for that in my eyes. However the Tadpole skilltree might be used in a similar fashion, as you don't need to split up tadpoles between 4 party members, but can use them for yourself. Though that might come at a cost.
