Timelimit?
So the tadpole is seriously stressing me out in terms of long-rest.

Is there an actual timer ticking?

Timer no, but the more you will use tadpoles and empower them, more things will happen story wise.
It’s not a timer it’s based on your decisions, make too many bad ones and you will likely grow tentacles.

No. And there are story reasons why this is the case.
Enjoy a chill game ♪

There is no time limit. You can take your sweet time exploring everything without a worry in the world.

I don't think so, it would be a terrible mechanic that would ruin the entire game for me.

You mean like a countdown clock like when Cloud has to leave the Mako Reactor? No, I think it's a story derived soft cap that leads to an ultimate choice the player makes at a predestined time in the plot.

I don't believe there is. Characters will note that it's unusual to not see any symptoms after days of being infected and they're right, you're in an unusual situation.

Indeed. Most people who are infected by tadpoles would have transformed already.

That event is not really timer based, it is based on decisiins you made or not during the story progress.
Skip tadopole removal side quests and progress story and she will come for you.

My friend just used long rest too much, we didn't do much side quests, but he wanted to rest after every fight. Literally killed him after third I recall.

You sure you didn’t progress main wuest only?
Never had that in my 215hrs in EA.
But I don’t rest often, game is easy without abusing rest mechamic.
