I didn't like the idea of transforming into a brain with legs so I wasn't that into the transformation illithid powers in Early Access.

But transforming into a kickass giant cat? Yes. I'll take two brainworms please.

I will say, the displacer beast transformation does make actually using the powers very tempting.....

Displacer Beast
Large Monstrosity Lawful Evil
Armor Class: 13 Natural Armor
Hit Points: 85 (10d10+30)
Speed: 40 ft.
STR 16 (+3)
DEX 13 (+1)
CON 16 (+3)
INT 5 (-3)
WIS 11 (+0)
CHA 8 (-1)

Senses: Darkvision 60ft., Passive Perception 11
Languages: None
Challenge: 3 (700 XP)

Avoidance: If the Displacer Beast has to make a saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds and half damage if it fails.

Displacement: The Displacer Beast projects a magical illusion that makes it appear to be standing near its actual location, causing attack rolls against it to have disadvantage. This trait is interrupted until the end of its next turn if the displacer beast is hit with an attack, incapacitated, or reduced to a speed of 0.

Actions
Multiattack: The Displacer Beast makes two attacks with its tentacles.

Tentacle: Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage plus 3 (1d6) piercing damage.

That's the Stat block from the MM. I can see it having it's uses.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the cheese wheel punishment.

6 legged panther/puma with barbed tentacles that can make illusions of itself to confuse it's prey. Even if it turns out to not the best choice, you gotta admit, it's got style.

Did a double-take when I first saw a Displacer Beast. As a filthy casual who played Final Fantasy first, it's interesting to see how so many of the creature designs are literally ripped straight from DnD.

Look them directly in the face while they're asleep and scream extremely loudly so that the first thing they see when they wake up will be the tadpole going into your eye.
