For spiffing characters up, we'll be swarmed with mods. Even EA had huge wardrobe mods you could download.
But will be able to look spiff and enjoy all the stats of high end items? Also: mods. I'm sure someone will come up with a specs transmogrifier doodad that lets you combine item properties and looks so you can have your cake and eat it, too.

without a doubt they will be more and different looking gear in the full release, they’ve even got twitch drops going on and I doubt that’ll end any time soon, ie prob be a fresh supply of even more new stuff as game goes on
