Baldur's Gate 3 is now available for me to play using library share-- It might just be finnicky since the game just released, I do suggest either giving it some time or restarting Steam a couple times.
When I try this, as the offline player when I use direct connect it simply takes me back to the main screen, and doesn't load the game up. Any idea why this is.
That's not what https://store.steampowered.com/promotion/familysharing seems to suggest.
> Can two users share a library and both play at the same time?
> No, a shared library may only be accessed by one user at a time.
You can't play together with family sharing, only one of you can.
that would help others who are looking up the answer for the question
which is a simple "yes"
- Player 1 (owner) plays in Steam offline mode: Go to Multiplayer, LAN, Create a game, enable "Direct Connection", and share the join code.
- Player 2 plays online using Family Shared library of Player 1: Go to Multiplayer, click Direct Connection, and enter the join code.
(Note that P1 needs to log into P2's device to enable Family Sharing beforehand, if you haven't already).
For 3-4 players, you will need at least two copies, since only one person can be using the Family Sharing online at a time:
- P1 (owner), P2 (using P1's copy online)
- P3 (owner), P4 (using P3's copy online)
It's worth noting that I'm not trying to play multiplayer, I just want to play it from my PC when the wife isn't playing it.

Never got them back.
