What happened is "Descent into Avernus". Go read up on that module. An entire city overrun by red-skinned, horned horrors... Yeah. Tieflings are going to be outcasts through no fault of their own.

As for the Tiefling look, that's standard PHB 5e. If that's not your thing, you're in the wrong game.
