What Starter Build would you recommend
for a D&D Beginner? And would go for Multiclass or stick with one?

Edit: For Reference i played Pathfinder Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous for a bit aswell as about 110 Hours of BG3 EA.

I appreciate all the advice. I guess i have to try all of the builds out but i think i will start as Paladin, Wizard or Barb.

Pls, feel free to share your thoughts/build ideas.

Champion Fighter is always a good beginner class. It's pretty bland but does what it's supposed to very well. You crit more often, have more attacks than everyone, just a good Fighter. You can spice it up a bit with your race choice too, but you can never go wrong with a Champion.

I'd stick with one pure class to start out. Get a feel for the game first.

I would decide whether you wanted to hit things with swords, shoot things with arrows or do magic. And then go Fighter, Ranger or Wizard depending. Magic users I think are a bit more complicated if you've no idea about dnd but nothing you won't be able to. figure out

This is where playing the EA can help one decide which class they like to play. One reason I do not have to ask anyone what class I will play.

Go with paladin, it gives you a decent fighter with charisma, which will make you quite competent during dialogue checks.

For melee, barbarian is great. Fighters are good too, but reward experienced players more. Barbarians just rage, reckless attack with advantage so you hit most of the time and are hard to kill.

For spell casters I would recommend any of the prepared casters, probably cleric at first. Prepared caster because you can just switch spells out all the time and try out stuff. Sorcerers, bards etc pick their spells and are "stuck" with them which can feel bad for new players.

champion fighter, bear totem barbarian or arch fiend warlock are very straight forward. monk, druid & sorcerer and to a lesser degree rogue are the more complicated classes to play. a reasonably simple cleric would be a wood elf light cleric (so you can use finese short sword) sitting in the back lines going wis with con and dex and dumping str and int. evocation wizards are fairly straight forwards too (aoe nuke stuff without hitting your team)

arch fiend warlock will give you all the dialogue perks and is a straight forwards single target ranged damage dealer with some decent defensive perks

Don't be afraid to experiment with what class you play; we will have the option of respecing for a bit of gold. But you can't go wrong with a Fighter, Rogue or Wizard. Warlocks are a ton of fun but until you become familiar with the spell list and know what spells you need, it can feel extremely limiting only being able to cast 2 spells per rest (3 spells at level 11).

Really though, any class will work as long as you take the time to learn the class mechanics. The most important thing to learn is how often you can use your spells/abilities when when said spells/abilities refresh (either on a short or long rest).

You're far from a beginner then.

Pathfinder games require a LOT more min-maxing and complementary buffs to have a good build.

Also, ful respec is a thing, so don't be too anxious, just test stuff and see what you like.

That said, if you want the most powerful and simple classes in existance, just go barbarian (with a 2 hander and GWM) for melee or dragon Sorcerer for caster.

I'll use this probably:

On Early i did a mage... and it was so smooth(probably for doing it myself)... I want something more powerful

If BG3 behaves like previous Larian games, then play a Wizard. Ranged characters were always way over the top compared to melee in previous games. It's not directly Larian's fault though, it's just how old DnD was. Now this is based on 5th Edition so paladins should be powerhouses.

+1 to paladin.
Good melee, buffs, debuffs, saves and charisma for talking.

I'll start with drow paladin chick. Drow chick because darkvision and they are cute, paladin - to talk and hit hard.

If you play paladin DO NOT TAKE THE OATH OF DEVOTION if you do not know what playing a lawful good character means. You will break your oath in the first hour of the game, I guarantee it.

It’s ofc up to you, but I would never trust Fextralife. They produce a lot of guides that have about the level of knowledge you could get yourself in an hour of play, but often there are misleading pieces of advice that take longer to unlearn.

Like, for that guide you linked - no two-handed half-orc for better crits? No sword and board gnome for across the board advantage on mental saves? No Zariel tiefling for smites?

It’s not specific to BG3 (it is for D&D 5e, the system it’s based on) but this is a much much better (thought not perfect) site for learning builds.
