about sorcerer/wizard multiclass
let me start by saying that im kinda of a noob when it comes to dnd but i have my experience in crpgs

to the point
I know that these 2 classes use 2 diferent abilities for casting so it doesnt make a lot of sense to multiclass

but and here is my doubt
dont wizards have a spellbook at lvl 1 meaning that they can Learn any spell of their spell list as long as you find a scroll??
and cast it as long as you have a Appropiate Slot

the way i see it sorcerers weakness compared to wizards is that they learn a lot of spells

doest like this would solve that problem?
would somebody enlighten on that
thanks

Yeah wizards can learn any spell from a scroll as long as its a wizard spell. So they cant find a cleric spell scroll and learn it. Wizards have the biggest variety of spells. Sorcs have a smaller list, but they can cast double a spell a turn and do other crazy stuff. Dont mutli class wizard and sorc tho. one uses charisma as a spell modifier and one uses int. So doesnt make sense.

The spells you can learn is limited by your classes. Ie, if you at a 1st level wizard, you can only learn 1st level spells. So if you are a level 5 sorcerer, and level 1 wizard, you can only write down level 1 spells in your book. So even if you have a 2nd level spell slot, you couldn't cast any of them from your spell book, they would have to be known from your sorcerer side.

Don't do this! lol

These classes depend on opposite ability modifiers. As a caster, try to multi-class into classes that use the same primary stat. Be SAD (Single Ability dependent) and not MAD (Multiple Ability Dependent).

But an interview with Larian in Italy said they've made changes to make multiclassing between casters more viable.

I can't imagine they'd allow a Wizard to use INT for all spells cast outside INT caster lists. Or even for your spell list to still increase if you're taking another class.

this answers my question thank you
makes sense otherwise would be little op
even with the diferent spell casting ability

Some utility or buffs dont rely on your spellcasting ability

Simple answer, is just don't.

Adding onto Mythic Alric's response, the only time you want to dip into another caster class is if the first level perks are worth it for your build.

For instance, starting as a 1st level cleric gets you all the prof's of the cleric. So you can in a sense build a wizard who can wear heavy armor by dipping 1 level in War or Light Cleric, then taking all your other levels in wizard. Which allows you to get the "Protection from Good and Evil" and "Shield of Faith" spells which are good protection spells at any level.

Wizards advantage is the diversity of spell choices they can be buffers or damage dealers with fun options in subclasses. Sorcerer is more a focused damage dealer with a spell selection you know works ideal, they do have fun subclasses like wild magic for some chaotic humor.
My personal take given the games max level is 12, Wizard's/Sorc's spell list for tier 6 has some juicy options I don't want to sacrifice using multi-class.
