Perception checks

Even with a party of four all of whom have +3 perception, they all frequently fail perception checks. Any ideas how to improve this?

+3 isn't even that good. It means your passive perception (which is what most of the peception checks in the game are) is actually only 13 and anything that isn't easy to notice will be missed. And even more so if you are in dimlight (for vision based checks) or darkness (for those with darkvision). So the way to improve this is to make a character that actually has better perception.

Put more points into Wisdom and make sure you have proficiency in Perception and Investigation.

Also- unless you're an absolute lunatic with quicksaves, you are *going* to fail some ability and skill checks just due to bad luck. May as well learn to roll with it.

often failing skill checks opens up other story elements so i wouldn't sweat it

Thanks all! Yeah, it's not a massive issue but I just haven't worked out how to create a character with more than +3 perception

My advice? Increase Wisdom or make sure to pick a class with lots of skills and add Perception as one of your proficient skills.

Rogue with perception expertise and a decent wisdom will get you over +3 pretty easily.

can save scum till u get what you want i guess , i wont be doing that except for a certain button
