New to cRPGs, is it worth me trying to early access first to get an idea for the game?
Pretty much the title. I'm curious about this game but never really played this type before

Watch gameplay vids and then decide. If you buy now, you get some free perks. Make a search and see for yourself.

There is a small benefit of getting the game now: You would get the free upgrade to the deluxe edition ($10 more than standard after release). The deluxe edition gives a few cosmetic things. While this doesn't help you determine if you like this kind of game, it would be a nice bonus if it turns out you do like the game. Best thing you can do though is get the game on GoG because then you have a much more generous refund policy than what you get here on Steam.

If you are new to cRPG play first:
- Baldur's Gate 1&2
- Fallout 1&2
- Planescape: Torment

Btw. all saves will be removed with release so that is pointless to play EA

While those games are also cRPGs, they are VERY different from BG3. There are plenty of people on this forum who like BG3 but don't like some or even all of those games. It also isn't terribly useful to recommend games that are about 20 years old as being representative of a modern game in the same genre. If you wanted to see if you might like a modern FPS, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to recommend that you check out the original Wolfenstein. A good game, sure, but FAR from any of the remotely recent CODs or Battlefield 2042 or APEX Legends, etc.

I wouldn't recommend any of those for new players of CRPG lol
They didn't age well at all

Give them something easier to consume lol
Solasta, D:OS 2, Pillar of Eternity, hell even Pathfinder is an easier thing to swallow then those old game

RPG game does not have to be easy to "swallow". It need to have depth, rich story and substories. The new games looks absolutly linear compared to old games i countent. And that is exactly the reason I recomend to see first true RPG games.

If you want just modern game then go Witcher 3, it do everything better.
