Friendly fire
I'm curious what everyone thinks of this in game. I am not just talking about gale sending a fireball into the middle of the group. But even elemental arrows hitting a nearby melee companion. I know the game is supposed to be tactical but so much is rendered unusable due to "splash damage" I mean i think i used fireball 1 time due to its ability to kill my team even with gale being in evocatrion just because it still sets EVERYTHING on fire.

I have to be honest: I like it. I know I'll swallow my words down the line when fights get harder but standing inside a huge-a**-aoe spell by a friendly character and not get hit would somehow shatter the entire immersion ... at least for me.

i get that, its more me shooting an acid arrow and splashing Lae'zel or having her bust her ass with an ice arrow.

Not gonna lie i wish i had fireball when going into the goblin camp and using it on the hobgoblin guy with like 8 adds.

Yeah, I def. know what you mean.
Magicians have to be used very carefully - luckily I have learned a lot from DOS2 in that regard.

I hate friendly fire in RTwP, but it's fine in TB where positioning is a thing.

Never played XCOM? Rocket launchers and Miniguns have a habit of hitting your own troops. Tactics games let you plan around it instead of having it unexpectedly be the case. You can weave fireballs between turns to ensure there are no allies nearby instead of having to do it in real time and getting caught in the crossfire.

I'm pretty sure i remember hearing that there are certain build options that would negate something like that.

lets be honest, is there really such a thing as "friendly fire". i mean cmon.

Off the top my head I can't remember ever playing DnD without friendly fire. That's why Selective Spell/Careful Spell exists.

There sure is. When I use fire spells in my RPG's, I cast them with the utmost love for how beautiful flames look.

And I just want to share the gift of flame with my enemies like I am Prometheus sharing the secret of fire with Mankind.

My enemies are so overwhelmed by how amazing a gift it is that they sometimes fall over, awestruck by it's grandeur as it purges them of all impurities!!

Is what I say, but in reality I just like blowing my friends up.

I like it. It makes sense and it's provided for some frustrating but also funny moments when playing with friends.

You are not a true Wizard until you've calculated the risk your pose to your party and minimized the damage you,ll do to your allies while also figuring out how best to kill the enemies foolish enough to surround them.

I want my party to believe I am actually concerned about their well-being, lest I may have to deal with our resident Rogue who REALLY loves soft targets.

Say thank you that this is not real time with a tactical pause
