twinned fireballs or haste
max charisma and get 14 dex
Can you further explain, as I like both classes and I am new to the game. Thanks.
Lore bards get to pick powerful spells from other classes(fireball/haste etc) at level 6 and 10, so you aren't stuck with just being the face of the party but can pull out some good damage and support.
Lore Bard 10:
- Your Cutting Words reaction becomes a 1d10 at level 10.
- This is one of the strongest abilities in the game.
- The enemy has to beat a spell DC of 17 with a minus 1d10 to the roll.
- Hold Person, Hold Monster, Banishment will almost always hit.
- I recommend getting Charisma from 17 to 20 by level 8 to make this DC even higher.
- Magical Secrets at level 10. You want Polymorph or Wall of Force? It's yours.
Lore Bard 11
6th level spells. In order to multi-class you will usually give up these spells.
Fighter 2 / Lore Bard 10
A spell caster with a non-magical AC of 21 (Plate Armor, Shield, AC Fighting Style) but you lose 6th level spells. You'll be making far less concentration checks with such a high AC. However, this is not a melee bard. You get Action Surge and Second Wind for emergencies which all come back on a short rest (which Bard's are excellent at.) Note: Heavy Armor does not have a STR requirement, you can focus on just CHR.
Fighter 1 / Lore Bard 11
Give up Action Surge to get 6th level spells.
Paladin 2 / Lore Bard 10
If you want to be tanky and have an answer to melee enemies up in your face. You lose 6th level spells but you still have 6th level spell slots that you can smite with. You won't have extra attack and your STR or DEX will be a 16 max so you aren't a melee bard. However, if Mr. Vampire really wants to ignore your tank and come eat you than you have a 6d8 radiant damage answer to that problem. Your Concentration will break less compared to a 16AC pure Bard 12.
Warlock 2 / Lore Bard 10
Lore Bard's do not deal consistent damage once they have used their spell slots. Warlock 2 fixes this. Eldritch Blast get's you far more consistent damage and utility (knockback) than Vicious Mockery. Devil's sight let's you take a non-Darkvision race. The extra Short Rest from Bard works well with Warlock. Your high spell DC pairs nicely with the Archfey subclass which get's a free AoE Charm / Fear every Short Rest.
For cantrips I would recommend "Vicious Mockery" and maybe "Mage Hand" or "Minor Illusion".
Haste can and that is really useful until you can up-cast it which has same the effect.
From elemental spells I think I could twin Chromatic orb.
Twinned Spell
When you cast a spell that targets only one creature and doesn’t have a range of self, you can spend a number of sorcery points equal to the spell’s level to target a second creature in range with the same spell (1 sorcery point if the spell is a cantrip).
To be eligible, a spell must be incapable of targeting more than one creature at the spell’s current level. For example, magic missile and scorching ray aren’t eligible, but ray of frost is.
I would not multiclass Lore Bard with Martial classes both Valor bard ans Sword Bard are way better for that (they both get 2nd attack and Sword Bard even fighting style)
Dipping into Sorcerer or Warlock is pretty good, but you need to know what you are building not only stat wise but Spell wise. What do you want your Bard to do? Support? Control? Dmg?
