I hate multiclassing
Just had to rant sorry. For RPG games I associate class often as part of the backstory of the character I play which is why I hate multiclasses characters (with MONK DIP!!!!!). You couldn't ask a question in Wotr forums without insane quadruple builds (with MONK DIP!!!!) and now when I see discussions here its becoming the same (not as bad).

Anyways this isn't to say anybody shouldn't do it or talk about it or anything but I needed to vent.

Anyways anybody else a single class purist? Or for those of you that view playing a single class with slightly less favour than catching the plague, what do you like about it?

Only a few more days til release!

*edit* Thanks for the steam points!

*Edit 2* Some good points, thanks all for the contributions!

I definitely prefer the characters to come first, and find reasons for why they went for a specific class or were pushed to it in some cases. Nothing against people who play for power and the.. well game part.

More power to them but I find it best when I can achieve a balance of creating the character and their story using race and class (even multi-class) as details. I generally stick to multi-classing only two though.. and never just for what it offers me in gameplay.
Multiclassing is mostly for meme's, poindexters who get off on number porn, and wannabe rules lawyers waiting to push up their glasses and say something like "But wait the rules say..."

Seriously, play the game how you like. Nobody cares if you multiclass or not.

Pureblood classes only!
uff that sounds so classist or is it racist?
Little of both. :bhaal:
Think I will use Magic Initiate Warlock on a sorcerer after all. Eldritch Blast with no invocations on it is weak, but it's better than regular sorcerer cantrips.
I don't think I'll multiclass without lvl cap mods. I just think I'm gonna end up gimping myself if I do it in vanilla game.
I like to play single classes, multiclass is too much management for my tastes, plus you can lose out on higher level stuff/asi+feats. Also, when you get to a point where you have a laundry list of options every turn due to class and magic items adding MC is just a lot on the ole character sheet. IMO the subclass variety is enough to add some different flavor to the classes already.

Rarely Multi class myself. But I don't hate it. Some people enjoy playing certain ways. Just let it be. I'm not a fan of weakening base classes to compensate for muticlassing though. That's a major trap a few games fall into. They're so worried how X class will use Y ability from Z class that the ability which is balanced on Z class but overpowered on X gets nerfed for both weakening the overall viability of Z class. That's a pitfall I don't like and have seen way too much.

I Don't think that'll be a problem though. All the classes are pretty good depending on the build. Even Monk might be good in BG3, but that entirely depends on what other changes there are. Because from what I've seen, d6 starting martial arts die and one extra ki point wont cut it for them.
In DnD where the class balance just isn't really thier at higher levels. Multi-classing is cool to bring some subclasses and such in with everyone>

I think in this game where it's not DnD it's not really needed. They already have made a lot of changes to make the classes on the same level.
Sometime multiclassing can produce classic ideas like shadow monk/rogue for a ninja or it can just be pure power gaming hex blade/sword bard. either way it is your fun play it how you like

Agree 100% but I had to rant and yell at the kids to get off my lawn!
Don't do it then. Issue solved.
