Neither ability score is tied to your power as a wizard. Wisdom is much more common in saving throws against enemy spells and abilities. I would go with the one that fits your personality more and the one that fits the skills you want to give your wizard. Is he your face? Do you plan on him persuading or intimidating the people you'll meet in your adventure? Is he a student of human behavior who's gonna be in charge of insight in your party?

I've been told Wisdom is something you want to NOT dump because of perception checks. Maybe if you want to have a good luck with persuasion/intimidation keep charisma?

Wisdom will keep you a bit safer in a fight due to the prevalence of wisdom saves, charisma will do you better in social situations.

I'm planing on playing as a Wizard with the following stats
str 8 or lower/Dex 16/Con14/Int16/Wis10/Char8 to start the game with.

This much DEX does nothing for you as a wizard, aside from some AC (which is really bad and can't be made much better with Mage Armor) and better initiative rolls. You're better off putting more points into WIS for the better perception/nature/survival checks.

AC, dex saves, and initiative make dexterity a huge stat for wizards. I don't follow this logic at all.

I going as a spell caster mage with Forest gnome as my race? So I think the Dex bonus works for me using magic armor.

Neither is very important for a wizard.

if you mean "as main stat" then you dont need both.
If you mean whats more important after u invested in your int, then:

wis makes u see traps and hidden stuff, so if you run in the front with ur mage (lul) you prob should take wis
but
if your wiz is the one you want to be able to talk with ppl, take char since you will have better success in conversations

Unless Larian changed what saving throw proficiencies wizards have, they have both intelligence and wisdom saving throw proficiency per the 5e Player's Handbook
Neither. Int, con, and dex are a wizard's most important stats.
