Sorcerer spells known
I recently learned of the launch of this game and am in the process of purchasing it. I have played 5E for many years and gravitate toward casters, usually wizards. I am reading that a lot of tweaks have been made to the various classes relative to the 5E sourcebooks. Has anything been done to address the paltry number of spells known for the sorcerer class (other than the fact the draconic subclass gets 1 bonus first-level spell)? I have always found the sorcerer to be an exercise in frustration given the exceedingly limited number of spells known (15 from level 17 onward) and inability to change spells other than swapping out one per level-up. This makes it imperative to map out the character's progression in excruciating detail, which is not fun.

I believe spells known is as it should be from the books. You do have metamagic and sorcery points to work around. That's how Sorcerers work. I don't play them so I'm not very experienced but I've noticed with others they have quite similar setup.

Thanks for the quick reply. That's unfortunate given OneDnD seems to be solving the problem. It also raises the question as to how the aberrant mind subclass would be handled if ever added.

Think wizard might be better on a 1st play as you can pick the spells needed for a fight . With Quick save option it makes thing easier than respecing

IMO the biggest annoyance with sorceror is not being able to cast identify as a ritual. Otherwise, if you're familiar with the rules, in a CRPG I honestly think they outshine wizards. CRPGs tend to be much more combat-heavy, so spells like Grease, Fireball, Haste, and Greater Invisibility tend to be no-brainers. Being able to twin Greater Invisibility is very powerful.

In tabletop, being able to completely rearrange your spellbook is a lot more valuable since in a given day you might benefit more from some niche utility spells, but I never found it that useful in BG or NWN or Solasta. That said, 5e makes it a little easier on Wizards than it was in previous editions, since they have the same flexibility sorcerors have in terms of choosing from their prepared spells for the day.
