I have never played a bard

I havent played bard ever but almost every TT ive played someone has been one. Are they like middle of the road class or are they amazing or do they suck ?

They're good at everything as baseline, but when you pick a subclass you make them amazing at something

The key to Bard is the Magical Secrets, spells from another class. So a Sword Bard with Spirit Guardian spell for instance.
