Report a translation problem
It is pretty handy when you want to get the drop on enemies or simply want to fine tune movement and prevent traps, for example, from going haywire when you set them off.
At the bottom far right of the hotbar there is a big shiny button that says "Activate Turn Based Mode" - you can hit this to turn it on or off. You can't turn it off if in actual combat however.
It is very possible one of you hit this by accident (or a hotkey to start it)
It is also possible the game simply bugged out as soon as you loaded in, I'd say give it a reload and try again. It IS currently alpha so... things happen.
