Yes. Not regarding the story and setting, but the game mechanics are more DOS than old BG.

It's a lot like DOS2 because it's the same developer, but it's a D&D RPG set in the Forgotten Realms with a lot of story and roleplaying options. I liked DOS2 and the original Baldur's Gate games, so a hybrid of the two is something I'm perfectly happy with, but to each their own.

Of course there's going to be some DOS feel to the game since the same team made it. However, it has a really nice D&D feel too it. I've played PnP D&D 5th edition and every other edition, and believe they found a nice balance between keeping it a video game and keeping elements of PnP 5th edition. My biggest complaint is that there is no actual pause button. Just a mostly broken turn based mode.

Nah. As far as environment interaction goes, yes, it does feel a bit like D:OS because obviously Larian would leave out the most innovative part of the way they make RPGs. Everything else though? Nope. Different combat system, different worldbuilding and lore, different tone, characters, etc. I wouldn't say it feels like Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 either, but the DnD feel is absolutely there. Can't wait to play it.
