Baldur's Gate 3 Bear discourse and the terminus of the Culture War
This will be the ultimate bear discourse thread, more broadly the moral implications of transformations in intimacy and the purpose of bestiality laws in the context of cognition.

So - Is BG3 really breaching any real deviances because sex is implied with someone in a bear form? Or would it only be morally inappropriate it if was an actual animal with deficient cognitive function to consent?

Is bestiality illegal because it is weird, or because it is non-consensual? Discuss!

Yes, yes it will be. All I see is "Herp derp, bear bad, wokeness ran amok." Let's hear about the actual moral foundation and why perhaps it's actually completely fine to show transformation druid sex.

Can anyone deny consensuality as an axiom to the situation?

It's pretty typical for RPGs, perhaps since Dragon Age: Origins, to have fantasy sex situations like this. It's nothing new, but each time, there is an attempt to absorb it into the broader culture war. It flares up and dies out pretty quickly, though, because most fantasy RPG players are here for fantasy stuff.

You know... I don't know many fantasy RPG players that actually get excited about enjoying fantasy environments and characters.
When eurogamer and gameinformer gives ff16 a bad score because of "lack of diversity" or ign complain about sexist bunny girls in dq 11 we better see an issue with "sex with a bear" or else they just exposed themselves, in my opinion.
I personal take the bear thing as a joke, but apperently the bunny girl in DQ11 is offensive to IGN.

Because it's weird.

We don't care that breeding animals or slaughtering them is non-consensual.

That's a shame. I wonder what they're getting out of the fantasy genre if that's the case. Maybe they're just in a rut?
