Gog or steam, the eternal question...
95%+ of my game are on steam
I got some games on Gog and like the "you own your game philosophy"
I usually do not use mods, but it happens
However, i worry a bit about the update patch release on the first weeks fo BG3, the potential workshop mods, and wondering a bit about the financial health of Gog (yeah, i had assumed Gog was a bigger company than it is, it seems)

So gog or steamm, hard question....

Steam...because with steam link I can easily play the game where ever I want. :P
Workshop is nice, but the most important mods usually are available on nexusmods, so I wouldn't worry to much about that one.

The same works just fine on steam. You can just start it via the exe

The Steam version is DRM-free, just like the GoG version, so the Steam version is just objectively superior, since it comes with Steam-exclusive features like the easier matchmaking and the workshop.

The only reason I'd buy on GoG is if you live in a regionally-priced region, since Larian forgot to update some of their GoG prices to the new higher regional prices that they use on Steam.

It is not exactly that i prefer steam "anyway", but i got a good number of games on steam because :
-> i got aware of steam existence a long time before Gog, mainly because i bought at the time physical games that required to download the game on steam (Shogun 2 : never understood why there was a DVD while you had to download via steam in the end)
-> I got game bundles and they usually are on steam (via humblebundle or fanatical for example)
-> i got "gift cards" that could be used to buy physical "steam gift card' in a retail shop, while there are no "gog gift card"

This mainly sum-up to Steam having a bigger visibility and share market.

GOG gave me a free copy of Children of Morta for spending over $25 on a Visa when I bought this.

So...GOG

Also I kinda like the idea of supporting healthy competition, all things being equal otherwise. Steam monopolizing the game distribution market isn't healthy. Which doesn't mean I avoid Steam, but for single player games that are an equal price I tend to go GOG.

I guess this isn't entirely single player, but DOS 2 coop worked really easily without Steam integration anyway. And I'm mostly or entirely going to play it single player.

If it exist on gog it's drm free gog doesn't do drm games last I checked.

However me and my friends try to do solo games on gog single player if we can, if it's coop we go steam as it's easier to tell when they are playing lol

I prefer Valve over CDPR because Valve has not released massively bugged and unfinished games, including lying about a lot of features that were supposed to be in the game from the start, and abandoned in the end. That's one of the biggest reason why i use steam more, but this argument dumb. But I think we all can agree that these are better than Epic Games Store.

Epic has been funneling Fortnite money to indie studios with their free game giveways.

I commend them for that, even if the actual store is so much of a badly designed mess I don't ever want to buy anything on it.

You are right, also them poaching games for exclusives is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as well. I dont think Valve cares if other stores are selling the same games, I dont know about Valve games but I have not read Valve poaching games and all let alone AAA games.

Valve doesn't really need to.

And yeah, it's kinda annoying, but it again involves them giving big chunks of money to independent studios that gets some cool games made, so it's without upsides.

Doing it with AAA games is more annoying, didn't know about that. Though again, not like every AAA dev didn't try to do the same thing with their own private store, before they all failed lol.

Besides I feel like the hate it gets is blown out of proportion when this had been a thing for decades, only worse with console games. It's the exact same idea, they need exclusive titles to try to shift the existing fanbase to their platform so it can actually compete.

I am talking about what they do with AAA games, there is no excuse for them to do it. They are not helping an indie developer when its made by AAA studios. with all the money they are making you think them poaching AAA really going to help indie developers? Or are they just looking to cash in by trying to forcibly try to corner the market. They are not making things more competitive really at all, becuse in the end because a lot of those games AAA games come to steam anyways, Epic is just trying to squeeze as much money as they can out of it. Its just pissing people off and them coming off like d-bags who really the end they don't care about indie studios at all. Both Valve and Epic really dont care in the end, just Valve does not have to lie through their teeth about how much they care about indie studios.
