Why can we only get to level 12????
Listen up, most games let us get to level 60 atleast, skyrim lets us go to 81 and then lets us reset. Why does this game try to be quirky and "unique" by limiting our strength to be the same as a dumb goblin baby...... Im sorry everyone but i thijnk its a bad thing to do for the game

A regular Balor or Pit fiend is above a regular level 20 character.

Never mind demon lords or archdevils.

well considering D&D goes up to 20 at most, you cant really expect anything beyond that.

that said: its a shame we cap at 12, i prefer full levels in a D&D game myself, but your argument is fairly silly.

Nice and subtle

Historically speaking, D&D is a better, more balanced experience within lower levels. This is an issue even in the tabletop version of the game - though this is a subjective one from the perspective of the player-base.

From a designer's perspective, however, higher levels are a problem (combined with the fact that D&D's devs don't actually do a lot of play testing to begin with). This is why a lot of modules are designed for lower levels. It makes for a healthier experience this way (and it happens to also reduce bloat & complications for the player when considering the full scope of their builds).

Hiding your games library or at least the playtime in them would help to pull off this kinda bait/troll thread :>

nice bait but for anyone who'd ask with sincerity: the difference is that games like skyrim hand out level ups like they're candy and just blow up your stats to make you more powerful
big numbers and tabletop don't mix well so 5e leveling is more horizontal in the sense of giving the player more abilities and spells to use rather than "you are +x% better at y"

It's cut content. Next 8 lvls in DLCs.

I remember Hordes of the Underdark which was a fav expansion for me until Mask of the Betrayer came along. I think we could get to level 40 in that. DnD 3rd edtion? I became powerful yes but still had my tail kicked or near down in the hells. That one cave was hard all pre-buffed cheese mobs. lol

My fav warlock build was in NWN2 DnD 3.5 edtion? I don't like 5e warlocks so far. Yes I know that has nothing to do with anything. I was just lamenting out loud. sigh

To the subject at hand a few more levels in an expansion maybe? Would help with multi-classing builds yes?

Extremely unlikely given Larian's aversion to DLC.

FYI my first D&D campaign was Curse of Strahd and we ended at level 11.

It took us 2 years and 8 months

I know at lvl 20 the characters become kinda broken, i just find it weird stopping at 12

I was actually curious about power scaling between higher beings in DnD. How does a Devil compare to a full pure vampire or however they're called in DnD?

many types of devils but the high ranking ones would probably destroy a true vampire

There are many devil types with Pit Fiend being the strongest "normal" devil with Dukes of Hell above it and Archdevils above those in turn. Then Asmodeus who is currently a god above them all.

A vampire is CR 13 so a fair bit below Pit Fiends and around mid tier when compared to devils in general. CR 13 is the equivalent of a 15 or 16 level character.
