Rogues, Feats and Multiclassing
So, rogues get a feat or attribute boost at levels 4, 8, 10 and 12. They get a subclass feature at 9th level. So what's the point of multiclassing as a Rogue?

Multiclass 2/10 and you lose a feat.
Multiclass 3/9 and you lose two feats.
Multiclass 4/8, you only lose one feat but you lose your 9th level feature.

The 12 level cap just hits rogue stupidly hard. You give up so much to multiclass anything worthwhile.

What feats, other than sharpshooter, do you consider critically important?
Not at 10, just 4, 8 and 12. That's all classes though, not just Rogues. Only Fighters get additional feats/ASI's.

Edit: apparently, Rogues do get an extra asi at lvl 10, I never noticed, guess I was wrong. 🤷‍♂️

I thought you loved 5e so much? Rogues get an ASI at 10

If what you gain from multiclassing is superior to what you gain from the levels including the feat or ASI then that is why you multiclass.

For instance getting +2 to archery on a archer Rogue could be worth losing a feat.

Do they? Tabletop has Rogues also get additional feats.
Yep you get an ASI at 10, they musta misremembered.

Though picking ranger levels for archery and gloomstalker seems WAY better than extra ASIs/feats

Rogue+Barbarian can be fun for having advantage on all your melee attacks at-will, and even though you probably won't use Rage for damage its damage resistance is still pretty good
Assassin+Gloomstalker is unoriginal but very powerful

This. Action surge is really good. Rogue/Fighter builds are very strong.

On another note, mods will increase the level cap.

Modding to go past level 12 is just gonna make you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everything though. Sounds beyond boring.

rogue 7/extra attack class 5 it's important to multiclass into an extra attack class otherwise rogue damage is pretty gimped

Not denying that. My issue is with the system itself. Choosing 12th level as the cap and having Rogues have a ASI/Feat at 10th means they give up a lot compared to other classes.

If the cap was 14, this would alleviate this issue, but it isn't.

Someone would cry no matter what level cap they had, it was originally 10 I imagine if it was still 10 we'd have forum pages telling us "oh if only it was 12 then it would be perfect.".

One problem with this reasoning is that you're acting like only play at max level matters. But if xp gain is balanced like most RPGs, we won't actually be level 12 for much of the game.

We will probably get mods or an expansion to boost max level to 18. In the meantime, I heard a rumor that certain features are locked behind player level, not class level. In other words, you could be a caster that dips into fighter and rouge, and still get the full benefits of the spells you would have gotten if you stayed a pure caster.

There's always going to be an opportunity cost of multiclassing. Feats are part of it, sure, but they always are. A lot of classes will potentially lose more than they gain by multiclassing, I don't think rogues are any different.
