all of the companions kinda suck.
Scuffed builds, annoying voices, mediocre origins.

Shadowheart "i exist because player need cleric also i have mcguffin"
Astarion " you need to lock pick so im here"
Gale "you need a mage sorta"
laezel "incase you need fighter, also mindflayers lore"
Wyll " oh you dont like gale cause he sucks, i suck a too but in different ways"
karlach "im not too bad tbh"

Fast "can solo the entire act 1 with just stuff off the floor but feels the need to grab companions for story"

Fast "to flex when nobody asked"
(I joke, more or less agree with your post but trying to keep an open mind for launch. Every media franchise needs to have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Marvel Avengers cast of protagonists now)

I wish they got rid of the origins and had a normal player made party that could just interact with the world and stuff. origins feel forced and crappy.

I disagree. I will for sure, have Shadowheart, Wyll and Karlach in my party. Not sure of who the 4th will be. Maybe one of the hirelings until I can find a companion I like.

In other words, you "don't" need any of them. it will be possible to ether solo the game or hire mercenaries and there is the Co-op work around to have one more totally customizable party member.

Im not sure how anyone can really make a judgement on the characters when you have very limited exposure to them and the story.

With Gale and Astarion you can have a clear picture in EA if they will annoy you.

I completely agree with OP.

First one you meet, complete ♥♥♥♥♥. Frog faced ugly ♥♥♥♥♥. I'm going to leave her in the cage or kill her in release.

Second one you meet (most likely), Shadowheart. Annoying still but the best of the bunch in EA, IMO.

Third one...EL OH EL. How has this not been redone? Dude tries to rob/kill you and 1 minute later he's invited to your party? Makes perfect sense. Larian devs would be murdered by hitchhikers in the USA. I'm killing this guy when I meet him if they have not redone his intro.

Fourth one, eh dude is ok, I am just not a huge fan of Wizards. Interesting back story.

Fifth one, I love Warlocks but his story in EA did not make a lot of sense. He is supposed to be some kind of badass and he completely isn't.

Those are all the ones I recruited in EA.

They are all forced companions that only exist for the player to party up with, BG 1 and 2 were different in that, the characters just existed, you could take them or not, they also were not forced in your face either, you could entirely miss/skip or simply ignore them, and not feel like you were missing large swathes of story dump that may be connected to the main plot or loosely tied to it.

Those that were tied to the main plot had much more depth with the exception of one or two well known companions (edwin where you at) whos entire existence was to fill out your party.

In BG3 THESE CHARACTERS ARE FORCED ON YOU worse than imoen was and to the point they are plopped in the world for the player to find after 5 mins.

They are not "forced" on you. Some of them, you can remove permanently from the game by killing them. Don't try that with Gale however. :P

Agreed there is not a single Minsc level npc in the game. I just finished my replays of bg1 and bg2 and while they have no where near the story of the Larian characters they are almost always more likable.

I get that its a shared problem, but the people you share the problem with seems like you died and went to hell and are trying to survive.....

Forced? I kill them all except Shadowheart because she's the only one I can digest. The rest can rot in a pit.🤷

Seemingly, Gale the Moron, is the one being forced down our throats.
He'd better stay away from me and my camp unless he wants to go boom. And if he goes boom because Larian thinks it's funny to force idiots into my face, this game goes straight to the trash, along with me never touching Larian games again.
Hopefully, someone will mod this idiotic moron out of our camp if we dump him in Act 1.

There will be the option to piss him off enough, he will leave your camp. I may have to go that route with him if he shows up in my camp to annoy me in Act 2. Any dialog with him, just pick anything which will tell him no or you disagree with him. Might work.

But I do agree with your point about Gale. It's bad game design to have him blow up and wipe out your party. Dumb, dumber.

Cant you just avoid the Gale interaction?

There's an option when the interaction event pops up where you can just leave him in the full game.
