It's currently number 5 in the topsellers. 3 if we exclude csgo which is f2p and the steamdeck because its hardware.

To me it shows BG3 is 4th top selling game. Naraka and csgo are free to play so they dont count. Neither does steam deck

The bear marketing plot worked wonders on the sales, as intended. Too bad a lot of people don't see it for what it was.

I think everybody sees it for what it was. Panel from Hell is an effort to boost sales; everything in it was for that purpose. Sven actually wondered aloud about how they could market the concept that, yes, the game really is reactive to how you want to play because you couldn't distill it down to one scene and say, "see, it's reactive everywhere." Then, several minutes later, the crowd told them what they wanted to happen with the romance (which Sven knew they would) and the game actually did what the crowd wanted to the surprise of many. The question about whether Larian was successful in letting you being able to do what you want to do was answered for everyone (for good or ill) with a single scene.

Larian was wise to push the release date forward so they could capture some sales before people become consumed by Starfield.
