Frustration With BG3 😠
I am simply speaking out in frustration, after playing Divinity 2 and remembering how "brutal" it was, I was hoping that BG3 would be somewhat different. It should be noted that I have already pre-ordered the game and I intend to play it.

Look I'm all for a good challenge when gaming. But sometimes I feel this game can be "cheap" with its combat. It should be noted I have played a lot of CRPG in the past.

So I know what I'm doing. I'm sure a lot of gamers like being outmatched and outgunned but seriously, the way the "turn-based combat works" you can get hit multiple times by hordes of enemies before you can even get off a "shot" in return 😡
and by the time it's your "turn," you are already dead.
Where's the fun in that? Maybe reduce how many enemies you have to fight at one time?

And I also mentioned that the game can be "cheap" sometimes, case in point. When you go rescue Master Halsin the Druid, he asks for your help in wiping out pretty much the entire Absolute horde.

But get this, if you have to rest to get back your health points and spells. Halsin literally "protests" it. And you can't go rest if you need to. So you're pretty much screwed to be able to finish his mission.

Or another example is when you side with the Absolute and betray them, you have to fight off an entire army of the Absolute and I have tried to fight back, used strategy etc...
But you get wiped out in a matter of minutes 😠

I like a good challenge " in a game but this game can downright be masochist and sadistic sometimes 😑

P.S. I know if you read what I'm saying looks to you like I'm complaining, but I'm not. I'm simply vocalizing my frustrations with the game. So don't personalize it and make it about you but being entitled you definitely will 😂

Having adopted Early Access with a handful of straight playthroughs with various classes and approaches, and the fact that I give zero f___s about the "get gud" crowd, you also have the option of using a nifty utility mod over on nexus: the FU ring mod. It adds a bunch of cheats and stuff to mess around with. Point being: If people just want to experience a Story/Narrative, then more power to them.
I've had my fun tackling that goblin fortress and the Underdark, but you can only retread the EA sandbox so many times before you want to mess around with everything. The mod is a decent outlet to do that.
Play your game like you want to play it. You bought it. Use it.

Every encounter that feels cheap I have played I can often over come if I approach with a different angle or sometimes come back at a different level, sometimes when in a situation the tactical approach is required to overcome, I like it this way I think personally they found a sweet spot because it makes some of the more niche spells have bigger purpose if you ask me. In solasta for example I found little use for most crowd control spells, however their newest dlc they upped the fights and crowed control is both used on you and very much useful (mostly fear honestly sadly lol) I'm many encounters to distract or deter while you take out real threats.

Yeah but the enemies scale with your level and I can't remember if the cap for alpha was 4 or 5 ? So kind of a moot point don't you think 🤔

You are going to have 3 options for game difficulty setting. And they are changeable during game play I think. Story Mode, Normal and Tactical. Story Mode will be pretty easy. Pick which ever you find gives you the most enjoyable experience.

look at turn order and cc or focus enemies that have not gone yet this turn. this can make the difference in taking 2 or 4 attacks in a turn

To each there own, after Pathfinders, Pillars, DOS and Tyranny, this feels like a breeze for me.

Fair Enough 😝 for the record I played these games before BG3 😛

When Halsin warns you that he has trouble controlling himself in bear form, I always tell him to go back to the grove and let me handle it. If you fight small chunks of enemies at a time and rest between, it's much easier. Sometimes "help" isn't help. :)

Practice, practice, practice.

Any greenhorn that falls off the turnip truck and decides to play this game, will get owned.

When this game is released, the frustration levels will skyrocket. The first thing that players will do is blame the developer for their losses. Gamers rarely accept blame for their own mistakes.

The achievement counts will be low. Many will never be satisfied with their party. They will repeatedly restart the game. Others will rage quit and demand a refund. Some will get bored. More than a handful will quickly become annoyed by the game's precarious, meticulous, micro-managing nature.

Only the most patient and persistent need apply for this hell-raising escapade.

That eliminates a lot of people. Including many that purchased it.

Yep! the typical entitled response, do you remember a time you were a green horn? Probably not, it's always easy to say what you just said. And for the record your honor I'm not that type of gamer who blames everything else instead. I

And I have restarted the game many times because you can't respec in the alpha🙄 it was the one thing I was advocating for in the full game 😝

I think you need to look up the definition of entitled.

Nothing they said was entitled. Blunt, but not entitled. There was no need to attack them for it either lol.

You posted you're query on a public forum, expect criticism.

But as to the actual topic. I'm a newbie to these types of games and I've not struggled much with fights. I've not had a fight that's started yet where the enemy has all the turns and nukes you before you can even do anything. That does sound a little like exaggeration.
As for the Goblin fort, there is an easy fix to the Goblins there, the ones that are drinking anyway. Poison the punch bowl, you'll have to sneak to do it, but it's possible. You wipe out a lot of them just from that.
