Well, to be honest I don't think the rules say anything about the wildshape having to have the same sex as the druid...so technically I think it would be possible that the wild shape would be a different sex, if the druid chooses so. He can turn into any beast that he has seen, so as long as he has seen a female bear, he can probably change into a female bear...
