"Facial expressions"
Okay, I like the graphics, and most of the NPCs facial emotions. But man, my PC really looks retarded with his constant face party. I mean, I get it: they don't speak and they have to translate the feelings of the character via facial expressions. But I get REALLY sick looking at this:

constantly.

Please Larian... could you please "lessen" the psychotic facial party of the PC? : /

Lmao, difficult to take a game like this seriously

It's kinda a tough balancing act, go to far the other way and you end up with dozens of games where your protagonist awkwardly stares expressionlessly while not talking at people dying in front of them, or declaring their love, or whatever.

Don't get me started on the "wincing with jaw slightly clenched, lower lip downturned" face that the PC constantly sports
Or the way Gale emotes like Jimmy Neutron half the time

Maybe my memory betrays me, but the facial expressions were somewhat good in Mass Effect, weren't they?

Id rather no expressions at all mostly because they don't fit the character sometimes, like my character will look sad in a situation when i'm playing an bad character who wouldn't care about the death of the child or cub. So it ruins roleplay as well

No I noticed the difference with their release of the cartoonish adaptation short video showing off the allies on a mini adventure. They were so expressive and I understood the characters way more then in BG3. Them being so stoic and the punchlines to funny or snarky dialogue being kinda... not quick... BG3 dialogue/scenes seem very robotic. Its difficult to capture the character's personality. I hope they fix this on release or something.

The trilogy - yes (somewhat). To my knowledge this is moddable so probably fixes to come for BG3. But at the very least a simple checkbox "facial expressions" would be nice. That's assuming they absolutely can't make it good themselves.

Also I totally get the OP. It'd be a non-issue if the mug of MC wasn't shoved into the viewport at every occasion of any dialogue which is always a cutscene. That's also why facial customization is so important (and alas - it's why it's so clear that it's also lacking badly)

Hahahahahaha oh man. That's rough, OP. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hysterical on my end though, at least for now. I appreciate you posting this.

Do you know how stupid most people look when looking at a still from a movie? Same with this, that scene is not a still and that makes all the difference.

What are you talking?! They "shift" into a set expression and "hold" them for several seconds. Like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥. And worse: it doesn't even fit the conversation (like, he smilies but the conversation went to "my Teacher died... so sad" and he shifts like an ape from A to B)

I would rather have a neutral face when they can't get this right. Damn man, the song was hilariously good for a game, the damn grinning ruined it.

I'm hoping that when we get more voices that they are tied to a specific Tav animation set.

So if I use a gruff Tav voice, their animations match.

Dragon Age 2 also would change your character voice barks when you clicked on them based to which type of responses you tended to give. So what if after you make certain choices, your Tav's animations looked more in line with it.

And sometimes your character looks like a complete creep with the faces they make.

silent protagonist are always creepy anyways, with he blank stares and all .
