Who are you starting with? Origin or custom character?

Trying to decide now. In DoS2 it made sense to use an origin character as they got extra story/missions/interactions etc, but here it seems like they are trying to make custom characters equal content wise.

Currently still leaning towards Lae'zel, but the Dark Urge sounds interesting too and has the benefit of allowing a fully customised character.

Who are you going for?

Dark Urge - customized. For sure. Larian went to a lot of effort to make the Urge. I would deem myself neglectful not to play it.

Yeah, trying to decide this as well. I think I'll go Dark Urge but race and class are up in the air. I'm thinking that I'd rather have the origin characters as companions so I can interact with them through my own character. A huge part of the fun is the RP part as we interact with NPC's in the world. Maybe my Dark Urge wants to have play time with a Druid in bear form, maybe he wants to cut that bears head off in the middle of this play time. Who knows?

I imagined the combo of dark urge with a palladin of devotion is a cool idee. Basicly if you want to keep your oath as a devotion palladin, the Urge is going to constantly be the nemises to that goal, as many of the options sofar are acts of cruel violance against what can be seen as innocents.

But most likely i will start with a Dragonborn Dark Urge, though what class i dont know yet.

Custom is best because I want to see who survives this game.

Otherwise: I don't like playing wizards or fighters, so gale and lae are out.
I'm not a big fan of barbs, though they are tolerable, that put's Karlach on the backburner.
Warlock is nice, I do enjoy warlocks, though wyll never interested me in ea. Though he will get a complete rework, so that might change things for him
Clerics are okay, though still not a class I would normally choose, but I am really curious about her story...she's definitely on the list, but not for my first round, she'd be a toss up with astarion
Astarion Is definitely on my list, but not for my first round. I do really like rogue, especially ranged rogue, and I am curious about his story. I'd probably tend a bit more towards Shadowheart, but he is definitely an option for my second round.
Dark urge, as already mentioned will be my first choice. I can play a sorc, my definite fav class or as a bard, still one of my fav classes. I can play him/her as drow, which is a big +.

Tav...I'm really not interested in Tav anymore...I mean, I can get everything tav has to offer with at least one of the origin chars, and as long as I don't know all their stories from their own perspective there is no incentive to play tav for me...

Custom. Not cause I don’t like the idea of playing origin but they are weren’t available in the EA and I fell in love with my custom PC and wanna see how his adventure goes.

Also I’d be interested in Astarion or Laz as origins and right now I don’t wanna give them up as party members.

I'd like to figure the companions out first as outsider, before choosing them as the protagonist and revealing everything about them.

I think La'ezel is a great contender for a first choice, she has the most straightforward story of them all. She was also shown in the promo material, I assumed she was meant to be chosen as the hero of the story at the time.

I dont totally understand the difference. Played EA Act 1. Created my character and so forth.

What is the other option now? A premade character that I get to play with, but that has a unique backstory? But that I cant min/max and allocate points for at the start?

What are the pro-cons of both? Thanks for the advice!

Gale as MC. Other origin and comanions will depend on missions, I'll try to get maximum exposure and interactions.
