Which is weird because you can change the classes of your origin companions, but when you respect you basically reset your initial class to level 1.
This respec tool was implemented with the purpose of giving players the ability to "experiment freely with multiclasses" more than a true tool to remake your character from scratch. Words from Larian themselves.
You mean origins? Not mercenaries? It seemed to me that their classes definitely cannot be changed, since they are too much intertwined with their stories.
And if it can really be changed, is there an official statement about it?
Checked... I hoped to the end that they wouldn't do it(((
It optional
Unless you have no self control to not change your companion lol
I'll likely adjust them a bit for optimization' sake, but keep them close to their original class for their story.
That's exactly what they don't have.
Last time I was in a Larian forum, which was DoS II years ago, people were restarting the game constantly. They couldn't make up their minds.
They'd play for a while, get bored, and then start over with a new character.
It's no wonder why the achievement rates are so poor in RPG's.
They spend more time in the setting screens than they do on the battlefield.
By the way, Woflheart says you WILL be able to change your base class:

So ye, not 100% sure exactrly how it will work.
Respec mod for PF games was must have if you wanted to try more unique classes and archetypes or fix terrible builds made by devs *cough* Sosiel *cough*...
Pathfinder was really unplayable without respec. The developers seemed to have specially chosen the least interesting classes for companions.
The main thing is that respect does not deprive us of something in the plot plan (unique dialogues, etc.)
