I never played DnD, is necromancy any good?
In every RPG I play I always play as a necromancer or as a barbarian. Which one I should play in this game? I dont seek power, I want more fun gameplay.

Honestly, as a newcomer to the system, I would recommend a barbarian over a necromancer. Barbarians are exceptionally tanky and punish mistakes much less severely, they also have less intense resource management, since, even when you're out of rages you're still a massive ball of hp and damage. Casters, especially wizards are on the polar opposite of the spectrum, though you can dip your toes in it by recruiting gale into your party, you can make him a necromancer too if you like.

I guess just depends, necromancy is well necromancy but sounds like Animate dead i believe in dnd usually lets you do 3 corpses but in this just 1 body in this so you wont be going like crazy amount of army of undead. Barbrain you get be a angry Meat train with no breaks and big damage.

Sad to hear that it is only 1 body :( , my favourite thing is to create huge armies.

I would love to be able to have "corpse slots" to store fallen NPCs.
Image raising a named goblin from act 1 and clearing the game with it.

But I'll probably be more basic like that.
As far as I understand you'll be able to reanimate a corpse or pile of bones into a zombie or skeleton. Multiple? Not sure.

Turn economy would be hell in this game if you could raise a bunch of bodies tbh

If you're looking for a Diablo level of Necromancy, you won't find that here.

This is more refined and strategic, not zombie horde-spam.

Also, it's important to note, there is no Necromancer class in this game.

In case you didn't know.

True, I haven't think about that.

Yes I did a little research about classes, there is a wizard with necromancy specialization.

Actually if you check community update number 20, necromancer is listed as a new wizard path on full release

I think he's referring to Necromancy for Wizard, but if not then yeah that's about as close as it gets.
That or Spores Druid.

There was something called "Pale Master" back in 3.5 in nevertwinter nights 1.

Nowadays the term "Dread Necromancer" is being thrown around.

it is disappointing *i my self enjoy necromancer* but can understand in a turn based game how much pain that be either A) you have command every individual one to fight and what to do and that quickly bog down the game. or B) they auto fight but due A.I npcs usally are like in combat when on your side do or walk into dumbest situation and also probably still bog down the game as going 1 by 1.

Yeah, I haven't thought about how bad user experience it will be having a huge army in a turn-based game. I'll go barbarian I guess and invite the necromancer guy in my party.

You may be interested in warlock instead. Warlock is very simple and has some pretty cool summons like demons. They have one of the highest damage spells in the game, high charisma for dialogue AND can push off groups of enemies form ledges killing them. Really cool caster class. All of their spells recharge on a short rest too which is insane.

actually if your zombies kill they do spawn others temporarily from the corpses I also regularly had a archer skeleton and a zombie for melee so that was 2 but I only did that by having my cleric spawn in one of them.... so you could outfit your party to get summons in but yeah it isn't like other games, honestly feels balanced still and even then dnd and pathfinder necros are more about de-buffing, crowd control, and ray damage while the summons stall and tank for you.
