Will Dragonborns have a option to have wings?
I hope so. That would be cool.

Almost certainly no given they aren't dragons and don't have them normally.
Rusted Metal Jul 12, 2023 @ 5:54pm
I'm just thankful they have tails.

No. Dragonborn are human like dragon beings. They don't have wings or tails. Anything that does have wings or tails that looks like a dragon is a different being, and tends to be an evil monster in the world, not a dragonborn.

Well I don't like that at all. The tail indicates the being isn't a Dragonborn because dragonborn never have tails. They are created beings, and they were created without wings or tails, so having a natural tail also doesn't sit well with me. Man this day is just one sad thing after another it seems. :cozypoesad:

I dont play 5e much lately, cuz lets be honest I like PF2e more, but on our table we always didn't care about them not having tails and always made them with tails...because its more logical and more interesting to have one for a lizard-looking race that is called Dragonborn.

How I see it, is that if you want a traditional dragonborn then you have the option of not having wings. Like I don't see why they must strictly adherent to lore.

I could see a Dragon-born draconic sorcerer having a tail. Maybe the genetics of their great great great great grandfather, who was a Dragon, is dominate enough to give your character a tail.

You didn't read what I said. The ones with wings or tails are different beings actually born from dragons and are typically evil monsters, not civilized beings like the others races. A dragonborn in that sense shouldn't have a tail because of that.
I can excuse a couple choices and not being what I wanted but can be things others may have, but when they just start digging into the lore I've been learning about and coming to appreciate and just throwing it out with the bath water it's more saddening.
Everyone can come in here and shout at me that there's an option to not have one, but them having one makes them a genuinely different being that dragonborn just aren't.
It's frustrating.

I was before Larian started doing a bunch of things I didn't want to see. I'm quite sad now.

Honestly i just don't care. Dragonborn lore is pretty stupid and race was very badly done. They are not dragon and not born from them, so we always handwaved their official lore and homeruled into actual draconians.
So we are having dragonborns with tails now. Its nice. Its cool. Tails are awesome.
