There was a day an insect, I perceived as large, flew into my eye and I hated it. >_>
It looks visually very interesting though and it implies something might happen to your brain, as it slowly is changing. I don't know if that is true though.
You can wimp out and inset them rectally but you only get half the power from doing that.
How is that the better alternative? 😱
But doesn't the PC lose themselves in the process? How isn't it coupled with some existential dread? I can't imagine choosing to do it, unless you're a nihilist to the extremes. Or if it's a tik tok challenge (jk).
Creating a tiny elder brain seems to imply suicide.
We don't know these tadpoles, in EA they say they aren't acting normal. I'm guessing our character's personalities will have plot armor. Or maybe the ship crashes before the software download is complete, but after the “please do not turn off your ship” warning page happened.
Cause lets be honest here 5e ain't really a ruleset that is prone to make different builds.
Every character tends to feel the same, from a vengeance Paladin to a Ancients paladin, there ain't much differences.
Now Larian allready took some steps with the itemisation, where the gear you can pick up can make some divers and interesting Builds.
Now they push it further with this.
I like it, i like it a lot, now to see the PLot/lore ramifications for implanting more and more tadpoles in your brain to unlock more powers.
Not sure if the Passives available are Universal( same ones for everyone) or if it is class dependant like the few illithid powers you could have during EA.
I don't mind being weaker, but I hope the story will reflect that I really reject the Squid in me.
SPOILERS
Apparently not only the Tadpoles where tampered with ancient Netherese magic, making them way different than classic tadpoles.
The Relic that SHadowheart is walking around with it, actually had an influence on the Tadpoles, helping the player party to protect themselfs against the influence of the Tadpoles.
As a non-d&d player that is rather disappointing to hear. The difference lies mostly in RP? I thought the oaths were rather all-encompassing for a paladin.
Depends on a class, Paladin general gameplay is always the same.
But there are classes that have bigger differences in subclasses.
Rogue Arcane trickster plays very differently from Thief.
But in general DnD 5e is simplified system that focuses on roleplay and same will go for BG3.
