Oh ok. I wonder why they waited to implement it though... Lol wizards are squishy!
Shield will definitely be in the full release, and according to WolfheartFPS it works as it should.
AH yes, that is the youtuber in particular I was thinking of, I've been watching his news updates for my BG3 news for some time. Love his thoroughness!
They've announced that there's over 600 spells and actions
The picture they used in the community newsletter #20 was just a sample size. Do you think the 50ish that were shown there +the ones currently in EA sums up to 600?
Do you think we only get 1 4th level spell, 1 5th lvl spell, 1 6th level spell?
Jesus christ.
Do you want them to spoil literally every piece of content prior to the game releasing, leaving no single surprises for when you level up and see what is presented to you???
This stupid meta culture of youtubers and data miners trying to figure information out is driving me nuts.
Complain when the game has been released and done, complain once you've seen what the game has to offer instead of building worries and concerns prior to even having touched it.
Is this really that difficult of a concept to understand?
Does it take 4000 IQ to comprehend this?
also i had no idea shield was that popular.
I think it is more that Shield is a very commonly used spell for many casters and its omission in EA was odd and doubly odd when they later introduced the reaction system revamp and didn't include it for testing since it seems like the perfect spell to gauge Larian's design. Also, reaction spells/abilities are some of the most tweaked spells in the game due to Larian not wanting to implement prompts, so Shield not making it into the full game was a strong possibility.
I throw up my shield as a reaction to your comment... then cast Suggestion .. if you fail your DC 15 wisdom saving throw you must .. "Chill the F out"...

*draconic gm level up*
It is popular. It is a core wizard/sorcerer spell and it is an iconic type of spell in magical fantasy.
The classic idea of two powerful wizards standing on two opposing mountain tops hurling spells at each other without moving to dodge henges on a spell like shield.
The spell is so ingrained in fictional wizardry that it's fractured in Hogwarts legacy as a core mechanic (that partying spell has a different name, but it is basically the shield spell and it's literally cast as a reaction in HL).
As far as throwing shots at people for asking about a basic spell, But then saying you didn't know it was so popular?
Did you ever stop to think people are wondering about it because it's so popular and so basic?
The spells they would hold out on including would be more powerful and over the top spells and not core spells. One would think.
They have hellish rebuke already, but not shield? Freaking shield??!
Your IQ comment just simply doesn't apply to my question.
I cast shield...
