There will be an easier setting when the game comes out. Aswell as a harder mode. I for one felt like the ''Normal'' settings that are in EA is too easy. But i think Hard mode will be too hard. So i guess i'm stuck with having an easier time. This said things could get harder in Act 2-3
Its just a learning curve you'll have to get trough. After spending a decent bit of time with the game, I can't WAIT for tactician, and am super excited for the increased difficulty.
In the full release you are able to pick story mode, which, among other things, lets you start at +4 proficiency bonus, which is kinda ridiculous.
But even then, there are a few fights in the EA that can be very challenging.
If you are struggling you could try to look up that information or some youtubers that can tell you more.
On top of that, the official release will have difficulty levels. EA is considered on normal difficulty so you can tune it down if you so wish.
However if you like you can tell us a few interactions that are hard and we can hove you some tactical advice, itsxalways good to think 2 steps ahead in these games, especially with some skills. "If I move here can someone get behind me and shove" "if I fell would I take fatal damage" a Rouge for example has a skill that let's them take less fall damage so it's safer to out 1 near a ledge of a roof then say a wizard.
You can also you certain tactical plays like if you have high atr or "jump spell" you can use those to leap and sneak up and around before engagement, if you have fire arrows maybe a grease spell on a choke point will catch a few before you light it, or consider a spell with utility over big raw damage, experimenting is key to success when you know what does and doesn't work.
If you think this is difficult and unbalanced, don't ever play Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. That is the most unbalanced role-playing game that I've ever played. Doesn't mean that it's a bad game, but it has serious issues.
And don't judge Baldur's by early access. That doesn't count. Larian games are not easy if you jack up the difficulty settings, but they also offer a noob-friendly experience if you lower them.
Combat is one thing, but their puzzles will also drive you mad.
Don't worry about dying. I'll be playing on the harder settings and I will die a lot, but many times it's not about you dying, it's about not letting other characters die. And I don't just mean the characters in your party, I mean the random characters that you meet along your journey.
My first thirteen hours playing this game two people died that I was supposed to save. So, I restarted the fight, which is cheating, but you have to practice saving others, not just saving yourself.
I think it's also just something you will get used to with time. I hope you can change difficulty settings once in game. Since i feel story mode might get very easy once players get into the game and get used to all the systems.
