Tutorial section gets a revamp in 1.0 soo maybe there will be something to do with them then :)
It's funny that you brought that up.
Yesterday I finished the first 13 hours of the game and looted everything that wasn't nailed down. Aside from two items. A large pot and the brain jars. Simply because they were ten pounds and only worth a dollar.
When you see something that heavy, in a game like this, and it's only worth a dollar, you can bet that it's useless.
i have a theory that may be completely unfounded.
I believe gravity exists.
So I was playing a strength barbarian and I took out a javelin and I launched it from a rooftop and speared a goblin and did like, 20 damage. It wasnt a crit. i did this 3 different times always getting over 20 damage. A javelin only deals like, 8 damage at best, and my strength was only like 18, and i wasnt raging.
So I think if you drop an object on someone from above them, that object gains "fall damage" that is transferred into the target. If i'm right, heavy objects might deal more damage when thrown or dropped. Theres even items called "Heavy stone" that has literally no purpose that i can think of other than dropping it on someones head.
Just something to consider. Maybe im completely wrong.
