Boo the mouse

So Ive never played the 1st games , but the thought of a hamster as a pet and actually being useful sounds something from a comedy or bad writing. Anyways so my question is.

Is the hamster actually strong or is he just a mascot to talk to from time to time?

In the earlier games it was an item in your inventory that squeeked when you clicked it. So who knows.

Basically just a mascot - didn't really do anything except squeak on occasion and take up a slot.

In BG1 and 2 he's essentially an item in Minsc's inventory that Minsc talks to (you do not hear Boo's "side of the conversation", though), and neither of them are in the EA, so we don't know if he's actually like a level 20 monk or anything.

I mean if he actually never says anything maybe Minsc have some brain disorder :p

Would be cool i supose if he is 1 of those pets you get at level 1 as a ranger. Crow , Crab , etc.

Minsc is a ranger. He already is one of HIS "pets".

Yeah i know he is a ranger thats why i specified , but what i ment is that maybe he will be useful as a lv 1 pet ,being in battle doing things than just an item.

Yes it could be fun, but lore-wise, he's link to minsc, and should'nt be the pet of anyone else.

Boo is not a mouse. He is a miniature Space Hamster. He is traveling with Minsc to keep an eye on his experiment to identify the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.

It's a reference to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, as an Easter Egg to us nerds everywhere.

Also, no it's only a mascot. And, this might be a hot take, but I always hated how me took up one of your 3 quick pot slots. Minsc was fun to have around, but hardly the best. I think I only ever did one run of each BG1 and 2 where I had him in my party. There are better options (and in BG1 he comes with the witch, whom I don't like).
