Oathbreaker vs Regular Paladins
Right so

Im slowly starting to think about which class I want to play in BG3. I think Im interested in playing an Oathbreaker dragonborn (probably with the dark urge origin). However, Im not 100% how that would translate into the game. My question is, how do Oathbreakers differentiate from the regular paladins other than being "evil"? Are they usually stronger/weaker? Do they have the same amount of abilities? What kind of team comp could I expect to run with with an oathbreaker? Are they good at multiclassing or not worth it?

Whats your thoughts about this?

Oathbreakers now a days aren't technically evil. You can be an evil Paladin if you wish to be as an Oathbreaker, but it's more tied to you made a promise to a greater being, the universe, or what have you, and you broke that promise.
A Paladin's Vow is everything to what they aspire and attempt to be. Breaking that Oath is what leads to an Oathbreaker, not technically being evil. Being evil will do it however.
I imagine a Dark Urge Paladin could break their Oath fairly fast if they really wanted to.

Thanks for the clarification. So if I break my oath I could still do good things afterwards? Run with a majority of good companions too?

Also, idk if it will be a possibility in BG3, but could an oathbreaker redeem themselves in DnD after doing many good deeds or not really?

Oathbreakers focus more on increasing the damage of minions they have. So you'd want to have at least 2 undead minions with you and allow your Aura of Hate to boost both yours and their damage. Oathbreakers also Multiclass into Warlocks pretty well as their Aura of Hate also effects demons.

The biggest downside to Oathbreakers is that their Aura of Hate also effects their enemies so you might potentially be putting yourself up for failure if your fighting Undead or Demons.

Compared to a Devotion Paladin however, Oathbreakers damage would lag behind just a bit as Devotion has Sacred Weapon and Magic Weapon to boost their weapon.

So its a matter of, do you want a small army to help you defeat your enemies or do you want to be the one to deal with them without much help.

Be the Overlord or be the Knight.

You can still be a good person as an Oath breaker. Being an Oath Breaker isn't looked upon well by others however, either them assuming you did something evil or the fact you went against your vows which are supposed to be sacred to a Paladin.
The Oath Breaker set up just allows you to use non divine/potentially evil things and you have no rules governing your actions or choices. You can still be a good person.

As for redeeming, no. There is an npc that will talk to you after you Oath break. Talking to them allows you to see an option where you can undo the Oath Breaking, but it's a heavy cost of money to do so, at least by EA standards.
The cost of money is to represent your willingness to sacrifice that which can give you more things to allow yourself another chance to prove you can stick to your Oath.

It can be undone, but the cost is a tad steep, at least by EA standards.
If that's how Final Release will be, is up in the air however.

Legit started my first playthrough. Picked Paladin planning on being good and dark urge not knowing what it was. I'm now an oath breaker and he does fine healing allies and dealing damage with a high enough AC to tank.
