Outside of Beastmaster, it doesn’t scale great past 5, but it always combined great with Life Cleric, and with Gloomstalker’s synergy with Assassin it’s a absolute damage monster.
So, never was garbage, and now it’s got highly competitive builds.
Gloom Stalker is one of Rangers best sub classes so no worries on that front.
Hunter can hold its own with hunter's mark and colossal slayer.
A gloom stalker is basically an emo ranger that wished he was a rogue, but can't be arsed to pick a lock and actually doesn't suck at fighting.
