astral plane

anyone have lore nuggets of that plane ? i know the gith and mindflayers are from there but who or what else

- It's where the gods go when they die.
- It's reachable from pretty much anywhere.
- It may or may not include 'space'.
- While projecting into it, people are connected to their physical bodies via 'silver cords', if the cord is cut, the physical body goes into stasis.

Various creatures live there, mostly though it's variations of the norm - space whale type of thing. It's often used as a shortcut between worlds by planar beings like angels and devils.

seems very interesting , i guess we should brush up on its lore for various reasons cause we killing mind flayers and hanging out with gith

Cause they get their red dragons from a deal made with Tiamat, and she only commands chromatic dragons. Afaik astral dragons are not affiliated with her.

From what I read Gith (first leader of the Githyanki after they freed themselves) travelled to the first layer of Baator where Tiamat resides and struck a deal with her.

Beyond that details are sparse.

It's mostly githyanki as far as I know. There's some other creatures but they're just like, there. Most folks just use the astral sea for traveling.

Pretty much - a whole lot of nothing, but that nothing touches everything and can be moved through or shaped into a something with the power of the mind.

The Mind Flayers are inter-dimensional space aliens, the Astral is basically space and the Gith were what eventually became of the people they'd kidnap and use as slaves. Eventually the Gith overthrew the Mind Flayers.

Every plane has its own native things, some things get stuck there. Time behaves differently there.
