Necromancy and Me
Do we know what the summon limit will be, how long they last for or even how it works?
Like, do we have to raise dead bodys of our fallen enemys or does it just summon a handful of guys?

I haven't played in a few years and by the time my downloads done it should be close to release date haha

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated :D

A good rule of thumb for things like this is to just check whatever the 5e rulebook says about it, since they've been sticking fairly close to it.

You are the man!
Will do.

Edit: Holy, hopefully they add in "Speak to the Dead"
That could be pretty fun.

It looks like you have to cast it on actual dead bodys/piles of bones. Thats cool.

Necromancy has the potential to be VERY good in this game.

With how much detail they've put into Speak With Animals, I could see that happening! But I would also understand why it wouldn't be a huge priority. The RP opportunities would be so cool tho.

Thats what im hoping for :D
I remember hearing them say something about "commanding a legion" in the PFH so I hope they didnt mean a legion of 1 or 2 guys.

Lets hope for being positively surprised then.

Checked around! Speak with Dead is in fact in BG3. Currently only unlockable for Clerics, however.

Speak with dead is very much in the game already.

Edit: You can also find an amulet early on that gives this spell to anyone wearing the amulet.

Good to know! My play time is still pretty low, and I've only really played as a Warlock so far. Gotta explore more classes while I'm waiting for the release.

Does DnD 5e edition necromancy involve summoning undead via create undead or do you in fact use a body and reanimate it, even possibly store the body somehow for later use.
Keagian Jul 9, 2023 @ 8:34pm
Well the spell Raise Dead only allows you to have 1 skeleton or zombie. Though the zombie can bite another creature and then turn them into a zombie companion for a limited amount of time and this stacks indefinitely.

However if you want more undead companions to follow you around, you may need to use a combination of Raise Dead and then use Control Undead on a different undead creature. Giving you a max of 2 undead companions that is controlled by one character.

Your companions can also raise an undead of their own.

This doesn't sound half so bad.
I would love if we could store and reanimate bodies at will.
Imagine clearing the game with some named goblin from act 1 xD

That would be awesome!

In DnD do undead creatures retain any of there former selves or is it just a reanimated body?
Like, would Act 1 Gobbo know how far hes moved up in the world since becoming your minion?

Bing::

Hello, this is Bing. I’m happy to help you with your DnD question. According to the rules of DnD 5th edition, reanimated bodies such as zombies and skeletons are considered undead creatures that are under the control of the caster of Animate Dead or similar spells. They do not retain their memories or personalities from their previous lives, and they follow the commands of their master. However, there are some spells that can modify or restore the memories of a creature, such as Modify Memory or Greater Restoration. These spells could potentially affect an undead creature, depending on the DM’s ruling. I hope this answers your question.😊
