Question about party size and amount of players
Hello! I wanted to ask a question.
I know that the party size limit is 4, but I also know you can split up the party and have two players control things separately.
In my case I plan to play with two friends when the game leaves EA. If each of us create our own custom character, will we be only able to add one NPC to our party? Or will we be able to split the party up and each of us have one NPC as a companion (making the amount of characters 6 for example).
If that's the case, how does experience work? In DOS2 you had to reunite the party in order for the experience to be given to all characters, otherwise the XP would go to the party that talked with the NPC.
Thanks!

Pretty sure you're only going to be able to have one NPC total with 3 players for a total of 4 characters. Unless you find a mod that increases the limit.

You’ll only have one npc member amongst all of you in that situation, so only one player will be able to control the npc character.

Luckily Larian has said that while it won’t be an option in the base game, they’ve designed the UI in a way to make adding extra party slots really easy for modders so you should be able to mod it in pretty quickly at launch if you want.
Mods will increase party size.

Why is everyone repeating npc though?
If someone will control said character, then it's not an NPC. it's a PC instead.

You meant Origin Playable Character, which is OPC.

That's cool. I wonder how many players can be modded in for example. :steamhappy:

This is great news! So we can get more party banter and stuff and if things get too easy, we can just crank it up to tactician to compensate! Definitely something to consider for later playthroughs.

The save file can be edited and changed to up to 8. The UI can reportedly handle up to 6 without much issue.

I'm thinking 5 and tactician mode.
